The former Excelsior Amusement Park was the Lake’s rival between 1925-1973. Another attraction of old, the Minnehaha Steamboat, once shuttled vacationers around the lake until it sank. Another turn of the century relic, the Excelsior Trolley, which once brought Minneapolis residents to their lake-side vacation homes, is a refurbished joy ride for residents and visitors.

Community pride abounds. Excelsior celebrates year ‘round with such events as “Apple Days”, “Crazy Days”, “Arctic Plunge,” and its famous Fourth of July celebration. Children from Excelsior Elementary School dressed in their scary best wave to family and business owners with their annual Halloween Parade through the town.
