Minnetonka Beach, with just 550 residents and encompassing less than half a mile of water and land, punches way above its weight class. The iconic Minnetonka Beach water tower rises on the skyline. And the historic St. Martin’s By-the-Lake Episcopal Church, a clapboard structure with its gingerbread detail and bell tower, remains like it was originally constructed in 1888, designed by famous architect Cass Gilbert, who also designed the Minnesota State Capitol, The George Washington Bridge, and the U.S. Supreme Court building. This “the seaside style of New England” is modeled after the interior of a Stave Church in a museum in Oslo, Norway.
